The Proust Questionnaire is an interesting way to get to know someone (or even yourself). The questions dig beyond typical platitudes and start to uncover what makes us each unique and how we grow over time. Fiction writers often answer these as if they were one of their characters to more deeply understand how that character would react in different situations.
In a time when we're building relationships over video chat, conversation dynamics can feel superficial. Pre-COVID, we would see each other in different contexts, giving us more perspective on how we each react in different situations. But, with video chat, our conversations are taking place in the same way each time.
As food for thought, how our answers to the Proust Questionnaire are evolving may be an interesting topic of conversation to discuss with friends and family.
