I'm a night owl. I hit peak productivity at around 2am. I appreciate that there are few distractions then. While this is great for solo work (e.g. writing and coding), it's impractical when doing group work.
Growing up, my dad told me that eventually I'd be forced to become an early riser. I hate to admit he was right. The easiest time to schedule group time is in the morning before the day gets started. It also forces meetings to be efficient and on topic because everyone has a hard stop.
Currently, I'm transitioning my productive time to the early morning. Basically, I'm imposing jet lag on myself to shift my schedule forward a few hours. But, if I'm going to sleep earlier, I need to be sure to wake up earlier, otherwise this will just result in more sleep.
