I'm amazed at how poor coverage of the World Series was tonight. Fox completely dropped the ball. How could they have repeated issues with their power generator? For such a marquee event you would think that they would have had robust backup systems, especially after the power outage during Super Bowl XLVII.
In addition to the seven minute delay on the field, viewers at home also missed key plays due to lagging video, including the home run that tied the game in the bottom of the 9th inning. In the best scenario for Fox, it had something to do with Google Fiber. But, more likely it was due to inadequate planning.
This episode has left me unsettled. As a country, we have aging infrastructure that desperately needs replacing. Utilities are often taken for granted, but without them we can't function.
