I'm used to being a guinea pig for my dad's experiments. Most recently, he's been working on a drink to prevent kidney stones. This has involved iterations of our family drinking three liters of his medicine-tasting concoctions, while doing 24-hour urine collections. My mom even carried a grocery bag with her urine container into a movie theater (the usher wished he hadn't asked to check her bag!).
I had always assumed that all parents involve their families in their experiments. I mentioned this recently, and looked around to a room full of blank stares. To everyone else, this sounded completely foreign. They said they would not be willing to go this far to help a parent satisfy a curiosity.
This made me wonder, what would you be willing to do for your parents if they wanted to do an experiment?
