I get frustrated when I'm forced to listen to a short smooth jazz clip on repeat when I call customer service. But, I put up with it because I don't want to lose my place in line. I wish there were a service that would allow me to connect Spotify, SoundCloud, or Pandora to my phone number, so I could listen to music that I actually like instead.
I imagine that this service would simply check whether my phone number is associated with any streaming services, and if it is the hold music would be customized based on a special playlist. But, if it isn't, the service would just revert to the default.
To get around the legal obstacles that have prevented companies from using radio content in the past, this could be restricted to paying subscribers of these services.
