Folding clothes inside out

When traveling, I used to have a hard time keeping track of which clothes were clean and which clothes were dirty. Before, to stay organized, I'd keep laundry in a plastic bag, but since my clothes were crumpled, they'd take up more space. Recently, I've started folding my laundry inside out. This way, my clothes take up the same amount of space regardless of the proportion that are still clean. As a bonus, I can easily identify clean clothes even when I forget to bring a plastic bag.

Now I'm wondering if there are other things that I should organize in a way that keeps track of state. For example, I'm considering shelving books upside down when I've finished reading them and switching the direction I hang my shirts after I wear them to make sure I cycle through them.
