Space to think
Making space to think is important. It's hard to be creative when you don't have room to spread out. Trying to be creative in a cluttered workspace is like trying to cook in a kitchen full of dirty dishes. It adds unnecessary friction.
The biggest barrier to working on creative projects is setup time. For whatever reason, I have mental blocks about getting all of my tools out. I need to take away excuses to procrastinate being creative.
Unfortunately, the only place I can really spread out at home is the kitchen table, which is tricky because it's communal space. When anyone wants to eat, I need to pack up. The consequence of this is that I lose my state of thinking. With dedicated space I can keep everything laid out, making it easy to remember where I left off.
