Orchids and dandelions
In genetics, the Orchid hypothesis is a theory that most people have genes that allow them to take root and survive almost anywhere, just like dandelions, while others only flourish if given the appropriate and often delicate care, just like orchids. In a bad environment with poor parenting, orchid children may end up depressed or as delinquents. But, if the same children are put in a good environment, they may grow to be a creative geniuses.
The same applies to ideas. Some are hardy and likely to be adopted regardless of who proposes them, while those that are more eccentric or unconventional can be accidentally quashed if they're not given enough attention. We need both types. But, to allow for the beauty of orchids we need to make sure that there's a nurturing environment for every one just in case.
