Calling the last play correctly
Recently there have been a series of incorrect calls during the last play of close NBA playoff games. But, because the NBA instant replay guidelines don't account for non-calls at the end of the game, the officials haven't been able to correct their mistakes.
While I understand the intent of giving games closure at the final buzzer, it seems like final plays should be reviewable just like any other. In other words, teams should be able to appeal both calls that were made and calls that were not. I'm not advocating for games to be reopened once the teams have gone home, but if a play would have been challengeable otherwise, then there should be an opportunity to appeal right away.
This is clearly already a question on everybody's mind, so the league may as well amend the rules accordingly.
